Shared Histories: Documenting COVID19 and Movement for Black Lives in Southwest Louisiana is
- A rapid response digital archive of community contributions and oral histories,
- A series of student-curated digital exhibits,
- And a webinar series of continued conversations to address the twin pandemics facing our community.
- Shared Histories is also an invitation to our Southwest Louisiana community to share their stories and experiences related to the COVID19 pandemic and the ongoing movement for social justice.
This project originated in the Guilbeau Center for Public History, which is dedicated to decolonizing the public history landscape. The history of science, medicine, and technology is a particular area of interest for the Guilbeau Center and we have conducted several projects with different community organizations and stake-holders to better represent Indigenous and Black voices in the history of medicine in Louisiana.
